Am I ready to say good bye to my 3 year old blog?
Cyber-psychologist Berni Goode talking about Flow on Charlie Brooker’s How Videogames Changed the World.
this is why i play videogames.
this is why i’ve always preferred labor intensive, repetitive jobs like construction, fed ex conveyer belt worker, & late night shelf stocker. i get into a groove and my substance and abuse problems take a backseat while i forget who i am.
This really just made a lot of things make sense for me. I thought I was the only one.
I find it extra useful when I’m not concentrating well on reading, but then I am one of the people who easily gets caught up to the point of forgetting to eat. Crochet is also good that way for me sometimes.
It can also help with physical pain. http://www.oxmonline.com/healing-pain-through-videogames
Definitely a reason I have been spending a lot of time gaming the past few years. (Then there are the times that you get distracted enough that you take a break and can hardly stand up with pain rushing back in…but yeah. :/ Best not to forget your pain meds too, because you will be sorry later.)
